Summer School 2005
This June, Stephenson Hall of The University of Sheffield was the location for another successful Enterprise
Summer School. This collaborative event between the White Rose Centre for Enterprise and Sheffield Hallam
University Enterprise Centre enabled 15 delegates to spend a week immersed in an enterprise culture that will
give them the skills, ideas and knowledge to help get their ideas off the ground.
"Couldn't be better. Hard work, but I don't have much time so I'm glad it was very intensive" - Summer School Delegate 2005
Delegates with business ideas ranging from an IT help line to a vodka vending machine had the choice of a range of
workshops covering business, marketing, finance and business structure as well as the opportunity to seek one to one
advice from business experts and put their skills to use in a business simulation game.
"I'm very grateful for the learning that the summer school has provided me, and I will use the skills and concepts
when I start my business" - Summer School Delegate 2005
External speakers from a variety of backgrounds including Peter Rawlinson of Wake Smith Solicitors, Tracey Alexander
from Wombat Marketing and Andrea McCormack of the Inland Revenue, combined with colleagues from Sheffield Hallam and
the Universities of Sheffield and York, made this week a successful learning experience for all.
"Excellent week, extremely valuable experience. Can't state the value enough" - Summer School Delegate 2005
Our thanks to Business Link South Yorkshire (BLSY), Objective One and Yorkshire Forward for the funding that made
this possible.
